    Commonly Asked Questions:

1.)  Why should I purchase an Ultra Camera Mounts Kit when I can find other cheaper ways of getting a car, a bicycle, or a boat shot?

First things first.  Safety! Safety! Safety!  We have received several pictures of people tying and/or strapping themselves and their cameras to all types of vehicles.  This is extremely dangerous and at UCM we believe that no shot is worth risking bodily harm or even death.  When used properly our mounts will safely give you the smooth, professional, feature quality shots that every project deserves.  Secondly, our mounts are built for professionals by professionals.  When you or your production company do a professional shoot, you should have professional equipment.  We are not saying that Ultra Camera Mounts is for everyone, and if you can do it cheaper then that's great, but by all means please BE SAFE when attempting any mounts on or from a moving vehicle.

    2.)  What about vibrations?

Vibrations are not a problem.  Our mounts are securely attached to the vehicle so the vehicle's suspension does all of the work for you.  Not to sound overly simplistic, but when you are driving your car your rear view mirror isn't vibrating.  That's because the mirror is hard mounted to the car and riding on the automobile's suspension.  The same goes for your camera when it's attached to our mounts.  The mount essentially becomes part of the vehicle.

3.)  Is you Hood/Door and More Mount really strong enough for a 50 lb. camera?

The answer is Yes!  We wouldn't be in the camera mounting business very long if we didn't stand behind our ratings.   All of our rods are SOLID STAINLESS STEEL and each mount is tested by our engineering department and given a specific load rating.  These ratings are taken very seriously and we stand by them.

4.)  Are your mounts hard to assemble?

The answer is No!  All of our mounts come with tools and detailed instructions.  We also have an outstanding technical support line to help you out if you need it.  As with any tool, the more you use it the quicker and better you will become.  Many of our customers can do a basic hood mount or door mount in fifteen to twenty minutes.  We highly recommend doing several mounts at home or in your garage to become familiar with the parts and how they work before going on a shoot where time is money.

5.)  Aren't some of your mounts basically "erector sets"?

The answer is Yes!  But that is what makes our modular products stand out above the rest.  After you have mastered the basic hood mount and door mount you're really only limited by your imagination.  Whether its the camera mounted on the bottom of a door mount to get that awesome behind the front wheel shot or whether you design your own interior mounts, it's all up to you.  Once you have purchased Hood/Door and More Mount all you have to do is purchase our Axle/Wheel Kit as an accessory and now you car kit tranforms into a UCM Modular Dolly in both high and low modes.  How's that for modular?

6.)  How can I make my kit work for me?

Clients, Kit Rentals, and Referrals: Once you have used one of our kits on a production, even if it's your own, word usually spreads pretty quickly.  Nine times out of ten your co-workers will be impressed with your ability to get awesome stable car shots, jib shots, and/or dolly moves.  Before you know it you could become the local car rigging guy.  A kit rental is when you rent you and/or your equiptment to a production company.  For custom car mounts this may range anywhere from $100 to $500 a day depending on their budget.  The actual amount is up to you.  So it's possible for you to rent your mounts and pay them off.  Now the kit rental money is going into your pocket.  Referrals: Ultra Camera Mounts is a customer oriented company in that once your purchase one of our camera mounts you have the option of being in our customer rental database.  When we get emails or calls about renting our mounts in your area we refer them directly to you.  It's simply up to you to take the job or not.
